Carmilani takes the top job at AWAC

Scott Carmilani has taken over as chief executive officer of Allied World Assurance Company (AWAC). He replaces Michael Morrison, who has led the company since its formation in 2001. Carmilani joined the company as AWAC's chief underwriting officer two months after its launch. The Bermudian insurer's new chief says it was always the plan that he would take over at this time. Morrison, who is 74, came out of retirement to head up the venture. Carmilani, 39, has been heavily involved in the day-to-day running of the company in preparation for taking charge.
