Michael McGavick is enjoying his first Rendez-Vous as chief executive officer of XL Capital. The former Safeco CEO has turned around XL’s fortunes since taking over last May.

Michael McGavick is enjoying his first Rendez-Vous as chief executive officer of XL Capital. The former Safeco CEO has turned around XL’s fortunes since taking over last May.

McGavick missed last year’s Rendez-Vous because he was sorting out issues at Security Capital Assurance, the bond insurer that led to large losses for XL. He says this year’s Rendez-Vous will be a lot more pleasant for XL.

“There’s been a real sea change in how people talk about XL for the better,” McGavick told the Rendez-Vous Reporter. “There was a very different conversation a year ago.”
