Lack of sufficient retakaful capacity for specialty lines and big risks is one of the biggest challenges for takaful companies, according to speakers on a panel at the Reactions Middle East Reinsurance Conference.

According to Oussama Kassi, general manager of Abu Dhabi National Takaful Company, takaful capacity has grown over the last few years. There are now around 15 retakaful operators worldwide, with total paid-up capital of $375m.
