A wide-ranging, risk management benchmarking survey by the Federation of International Risk Management Associations (FIRMASS) is now in production. Questions sent out to risk managers include such crucial issues as buyers’ degree of satisfaction with broker business trips to develop golf handicaps, the quality of cuisine in conference locations, the availability of air miles on routes to captive domiciles, and whether tickets to cricket test matches are more desirable than those for Olympic events.

Peripheral questions relating to transparency of broker remuneration, contract certainty, willingness to pay, security, Solvency II and process efficiency will be handled by intermediaries on risk managers’ behalf as FIRMASS believes the issues are too complicated or upsetting for its members.

The online survey of risk managers will be sponsored by Monolith Insurance Co and Mega Broker Inc. Experts from the two companies will analyse the survey findings and produce a report that will be made freely available to FIRMASS members if they insist on seeing a copy.

The CEO of Monolith Insurance, Carlos Havana-Laff, said that he had already written up the favourable findings of the report but was still looking forward to hearing what risk managers had to say: “In line with our strict environmental code of conduct I personally will oversee the recycling of the survey findings after my secretary has summed up their contents for me in a two line email.”
