AIG Tarp cost estimate falls $2.9bn

The US Department of the Treasury has decreased its projected cost of the Troubled Asset Relief Program (Tarp) by $11.4bn to $105.4bn, partly as a result of a decrease in the estimated cost related American International Group (AIG) of $2.9bn.

The US Department of the Treasury has decreased its projected cost of the Troubled Asset Relief Program (Tarp) by $11.4bn to $105.4bn, partly as a result of a decrease in the estimated cost related American International Group (AIG) of $2.9bn.
The Treasury said the prospects for AIG have improved and the troubled insurer is now more financially stable.
