Swiss reinsurer Novae Re, the reinsurance arm of Novae Group, will add credit and surety reinsurance to its underwriting capabilities.

Stefano Lorenzini has been appointed as head of credit and surety. He previously held senior underwriting and management positions in Swiss Re, most recently with responsibility for Europe and Asia. Before joining Swiss Re, Lorenzini held various positions at DG Bank in commercial banking and at Credit Suisse in export finance.

Rodolfo Bretscher has been appointed as regional head, credit and surety with responsibility for continental markets. Rodolfo was a director at SACE Group as Head of Surety. He previously also held senior positions at Swiss Re in credit and surety reinsurance and business development.

Swiss Re last year greatly pulled back its credit and surety reinsurance business, claiming the line was not profitable enough.

Novae Re was formed in September 2009.
