Flood defences save Hamburg €17.5bn

Munich Re estimates that investments into flood defences have had a net positive effect of roughly €15bn over the last fifty years.
Defences erected to mitigate floods in the city of Hamburg have saved €17.5bn, according to a study conducted by Munich Re.
