At around 10:00 UTC (around 17:00 Vietnam, local time) on Monday, 30 September, Typhoon Wutip made landfall over the coastal city of Dong Hoi (population ~ 110,000) in Quang Bình province, central Vietnam, approximately 230 mi (370 km) south of Hanoi, as a Category 2 storm on the Saffir-Simpson Hurricane Wind Scale (SSHWS) bringing torrential rainfall and strong winds to the region, which has damaged houses, uprooted trees, and caused power outages.
