Voting open for Reactions London Market Awards 2013

Welcome to the Reactions London Market Awards 2013 Survey.

These awards recognise excellence and unique performance for individuals, teams and companies operating in the London market.

We are contacting you in anticipation that you may wish to participate in this year’s survey to help us understand who you think is worthy of a nomination, or to provide your organisations nomination.

Only (re)insurance firms, brokers and service providers operating in and catering for the London market can be nominated.

Categories are to be split into two halves - Tier 1 and Tier 2.

If you would like to nominate your company for the Tier 1 categories or to cast your nomination of a firm or individual who you think is worthy, please complete the Tier 1 online form.

If you would like to nominate a firm, team or individual for the Tier 2 categories please complete the
Tier 2 online form.

Please note that the poll will remain live to Friday, 8th March inclusive.

Once all the nominations are in and verified the results will be passed to our independent panel of judges, including some of the most influential figures in the London market, who will debate the merits of each nomination and any comments, alongside the number of votes received. From this they will agree on a shortlist of up to 3 names per category with the winner announced at the Reactions London Market Awards gala dinner taking place on Wednesday 26th June at the Grange Tower Bridge Hotel.

If you have been impressed by the performance of an individual, team or company in the London market and feel that they deserve a mention in this year’s nomination process, or if you would like to make a single nomination on behalf of your organisation for the Tier 1 categories, please complete the survey forms of interest to you.

Thank you for your important participation.

Reactions Global Awards Winners announced

The winners of the Reactions Global Awards 2012 - revealing the best insurance, reinsurance and broking companies as well as service providers and individuals - were announced at a ceremony on September 19 at New York's Cipriani Wall Street.

It is a fitting juncture for marking excellence in the insurance industry, as reinsurers and their cedents responded to a year of heavy catastrophe losses in 2011, particularly in Asia-Pacific, by paying claims quickly, staying remarkably well capitalised despite big payouts, and validating the industry's crucial role in helping keep the global economy stable.

Among the insurers, Ace won the global award, with rivals Travelers, Zurich, QBE and Mapfre scooping regional gongs for North America, Europe, Asia-Pacific and Latin America, respectively.

RenaissanceRe had the best night among reinsurers, winning the overall award for best reinsurer, as well as the important property-catastrophe category and best Bermuda market company category. Transatlantic Re triumphed for the casualty/liability award, Scor claimed victory in the life reinsurance category, and Munich Re took the specialty award for aviation, energy and marine lines.

In the broking categories, MMC cleaned up: insurance broking CEO of the year went to Brian Duperreault of MMC, while the reinsurance broker award for 2012 went to Guy Carpenter's Alex Moczarski. Marsh added further laurels by winning the award for best global insurance broker, while Guy Carpenter scooped the reinsurance broking gong.

Reactions also honoured QBE's boss Frank O'Halloran with a lifetime achievement award.

The awards are the result of an online poll of our readers and the Reactions editorial team then canvassing the market through informal interviews with underwriting executives, broking executives, equity analysts and other observers and making editorial choices on which firms, people and deals are most deserving this year.

Winners of London Market Awards 2011 revealed

The winners of the Reactions London Market Awards 2011 were announced on June 30 at a gala dinner at the Grange City Hotel. The awards - in association with event sponsor Goldman Sachs Asset Management and category sponsors AJ Gallagher and Guy Carpenter - recognise the best insurance, reinsurance and broking teams in the London insurance market, as well as service providers and the market's outstanding personalities.

The awards were presented by Will Greenwood, England's rugby world cup winner in 2003.

Kiln, Aon Benfield and Guy Carpenter stood out in the team awards.

Kiln won three awards for property reinsurance, motor reinsurance and facultative reinsurance. Aon Benfield won four awards for property reinsurance broking, marine and energy reinsurance broking, motor reinsurance broking and reinsurance broking analytics. Guy Carpenter won three awards for casualty reinsurance broking, aviation reinsurance broking and facultative reinsurance broking.

The night ended with the presentation of prestigious company and individual awards.

Chartis added to two wins in the team categories by winning Insurance Company of the Year, an award category sponsored by Arthur J Gallagher. Hannover Re won Reinsurance Company of the Year. JLT won Insurance Broker of the Year. And Aon Benfield capped a great night by walking off with the Reinsurance Broker of the Year award.

In the individual categories, Novae's Matthew Fosh won Insurance Company CEO of the Year, a category sponsored by Guy Carpenter. Scor's Denis Kessler won Reinsurance Company CEO of the Year. Marsh's Martin South won Insurance Broker CEO of the Year, while Cooper Gay Swett & Crawford's Toby Esser won Reinsurance Broker CEO of the Year.

Some of the emerging talents in the London market were recognised with the awards of Young Underwriter of the Year to Nick Jones of Apollo and Young Broker of the Year to Anshuman Srivastava of Aon Benfield.

In the last three categories of the evening, Richard Brindle, CEO of Lancashire, won Industry Personality of the Year, Andrew Beazley was posthumously honoured with a special award for industry contribution, and Lord Levene won the award for lifetime achievement. Levene is standing down as chairman of Lloyd's later this year after nine years in the role.

"Today everyone comes to Lloyd's," said Levene when accepting the award. "What I tried to do as the first non-insurance chairman was to clock up a number of flight hours and sell the unique attraction of Lloyd's. I think we can say the power of the brand has never been higher."
