Michael expected to be manageable

Hurricane Michael is not expected to be an industry-churning event according to analysts. Early estimated losses from wind and storm surge have so far totalled $4.5bn following the storm’s landfall as a category 4 hurricane with wind speeds of 155mph. Scenes of devastation have already emerged in the aftermath of the fast-moving storm, which has already weakened to a tropical storm. Mexico Beach, a popular tourist destination in the Florida panhandle region was reportedly heavily damaged by the storm, but the storm is not expected to be as devastating for insurers, unlike last year's events.
